Nottingham is a city in England, with a population of around 340,000. Nottingham is the county town and commercial centre of Nottinghamshire. It has been an important settlement for centuries because of its location on the River Trent and its proximity to the East Midlands region.

Nottingham University
One of the top UK universities, Nottingham University has a long and esteemed history. It was founded in 1881 as one of England's first civic colleges, with a vision to provide high-quality teaching in both arts and science degrees. Nottingham is ranked among the world's best universities by The Times Higher Education World Rankings 2015-2016, coming 29th in the world for its excellent research performance. The University of Nottingham is a public research university in the city of Nottingham, England. It was founded as an Anglican institution in 1881 and became a member of the federal Victoria University from 1907 but left it to become independent for some teaching purposes since 1952 under its Royal Charter which provides that "the object shall be the advancement and dissemination of learning. It is one of twelve universities given provisional or full approval by all four UK higher education funding bodies (HEFCE) with others including Durham, Newcastle, Warwick, and Sussex. The university has two campuses: City Campus on London Road where there are six major schools; School at Wollaton Hall near West Bridgford traces its roots back to the 1865 nonconformists.

Transport
Nottingham public transport is the best option for traveling around this modern city. You have plenty of choices when it comes to the methods available. You not only have buses, trains, and a modern tram system but access to Nottingham East Midlands Airport is also around 30 minutes from the city centre. The airport serves many European destinations, plus it can be used to link International flights. As Nottingham is situated central in the UK, it is served by the M1 motorway which is close by and accessible. The recently introduced tram system has been a welcome addition the city, which has relieved the stress of travel volume from the existing trains and buses.
Trains depart either from here or London St Pancras International (via Euston). You can buy tickets online up to 11 weeks ahead for National Express East Midlands trains as well as Virgin Trains East Coast on their website.. Trams on the other hand provide an easy way to get around the city without having to worry about traffic jams and over taking.

The city of Nottingham is home to a variety of architectural styles. The medieval buildings, Tudor houses and post-war housing all contribute to the distinctive character of this old English city.
